With over 25 years of client experience, Barbara Berglund brings to each project a multi-faceted perspective and an eye for transformation. She specializes in executing strategic audits and fundraising assessments and delivers a comprehensive plan of best practices which she implements with our clients.
Throughout her career, Barbara has helped educational, healthcare and community organizations evaluate their current programs and then take bold steps to increase their fundraising success. Barbara’s strategies and campaigns for such clients as Phillips Academy/Andover and Fairfield University achieved annual fund increases of hundreds of thousands of dollars in the first year. Her annual campaign for Riley Children’s Foundation doubled the hospital’s net income on a marketing budget cut nearly in half.
Barbara’s expertise in branding and communications is a hallmark of her fundraising practice. Many clients have also relied on her comprehensive marketing strategies in the wider institutional arena. For the University of Pennsylvania, Barbara designed and implemented multi-year campaigns in both education and healthcare. She built Dynamics of Organization from a summer course into a nationally recognized graduate program enrolling five hundred Master’s degree candidates. After branding the nursing department at Penn’s Presbyterian Medical Center, Barbara executed the advertising and public relations programs which eliminated the hospital’s nursing shortage.
Barbara has garnered over 50 awards of excellence for campaigns and publications, including multiple honors for Smith College fundraising projects and the “Best in Magazine” award for a nurse recruitment advertisement in RN Magazine for Baptist Memorial Hospital.
In addition to her work with clients, Barbara demonstrates her commitment to non-profits through extensive volunteer service. She has served as a CASE Roundtable Leader for Enrollment Publications and Annual Fundraising, as a Consultant to the Hopewell Valley Recreation Foundation, and as the Development Chair of the Board of Directors of Cerebral Palsy of New Jersey.
Barbara is an alumna of Smith College. In addition to her consulting work with Smith, she has served her alma mater in a volunteer capacity as Special Gifts Chair, Class Vice President, and Publicity Chair of the Board of Directors of the Princeton Area Smith College Club.
