Terry is a creative, persuasive leader who is able to build strong teams and utilize scarce resources to improve productivity and quality. He has held leadership positions at the University of South Carolina, Northwestern University, the University of Virginia, and the University of Michigan, where he served as the Associate Dean for the College of Engineering during its quiet phase for a campaign that ultimately raised $1.5 billion. He also served as the Associate Dean for Advancement at Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill during the silent phase of the school’s most comprehensive campaign in its history, a campaign that raised $2.38 billion.

Most recently, as Vice Chancellor for University Advancement at NC State University, Terry directed the Achieve! Campaign which ultimately raised $1.36 billion and reached its $1 billion goal 19 months ahead of schedule. Likewise at NC State, Terry’s leadership helped secure $128 million for endowed scholarships.

He has designed and built annual and capital programs that have raised over $5 billion, bolstering Terry’s reputation in the industry as an innovator and as a thought leader for administrators, volunteers, and staff and a motivating force among internal and external decision makers.
