2/1/09 - CDM Presents at CASE III in Atlanta

Charleston, SC (February 1, 2009) Corporate DevelopMint has been invited to speak at the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District III conference in Atlanta this February 9th. Terry Wood, Lead Counsel of the Higher Education Division, and Tucker Branham, consultant, will lead a presentation about tailoring different fundraising efforts to meet the giving styles and motivations of several different generations.

Following his successful $1.38 billion campaign as Vice Chancellor for Advancement at North Carolina State, Terry Wood realized that the next great campaign at his school would not succeed if the next generation of donors was not cultivated. “Thirty really is the new 50,” says Wood. “While these grads, one, five or ten years out of college might not be ready to give that $10 million gift today, if we don’t engage them today, they will find someone who will and we will not fill the void left by today’s major donor.”

In addition to the case study Wood will present, Tucker Branham, a fundraiser on the cusp between Millennial and Generation X, will offer not only her personal experiences of giving back while still paying off student loans but also some real-life strategies that will work to attract young people like her to share more with their alma maters than a few tailgating parties every year.

“We’re all feeling the economic crunch,” says Branham, “so why not choose ways to engage donors that are cheap to implement and plant the seeds for future major giving? The price we’ll pay for not inviting people like me to the table could be steep.”

Wood and Branham will deliver their presentation at 3:30 pm on Monday, February 9th. They will also be available for questions and discussions at Booth 200 in the exhibition hall.
