9/15/08 - Billion Dollar Fundraiser to Lead Corporate DevelopMint


Charleston, SC (September 15, 2008) – Corporate DevelopMint is proud to announce the hiring of Terry Wood to head up the firm’s Higher Education Division. Most recently, Terry served as the Vice Chancellor for University Advancement for North Carolina State where he led a comprehensive campaign that resulted in $1.36 billion raised.

With a progressive background in managing the complex advancement organizations at major private and public universities, Terry will provide both hands-on leadership for our clients and innovative mentorship for our existing higher education team. His 35 years of experience covers the full spectrum of institutional fundraising, alumni relations, public affairs, advancement services, marketing, and campaign management.

Terry has held leadership positions at the University of South Carolina, Northwestern University, the University of Virginia, and the University of Michigan, where he served as the Associate Dean for the College of Engineering during its quiet phase for a campaign that ultimately raised $1.5 billion. He also served as the Associate Dean for Advancement at Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill during the silent phase of the school’s most comprehensive campaign in its history, a campaign that raised $2.38 billion.

In addition to Terry’s billion dollar effort, he also directed NC State University’s $128 million campaign for endowed scholarships.

He has designed and built annual and capital programs that have raised over $5 billion, including NC State’s Achieve! Campaign which surpassed its $1 billion goal 19 months ahead of schedule, ultimately raising $1.36 billion.
