Corporate DevelopMint Executive Named Alumnus of the Year

Charleston, SC (November 11, 2005)--Charlie Cole Receives Inaugural Award from The Citadel School of Business Administration

Corporate DevelopMint’s CEO Charlie Cole was named The Citadel School of Business Administration’s first Alumnus of the Year award recipient.

The award will be given annually to honor a graduate who has enjoyed success and made significant contributions to the community through the principles of integrity, fairness, and concern for others, as well as the pursuit and dissemination of knowledge to promote enlightened changes in society and the desire to personally improve and grow.

“Charlie Cole has been not only a great model for all business school alums and students throughout his business career with Wachovia, but he is also been so very generous with his talent and energy with The Citadel as well as so many other organizations,” said Earl Walker, dean of the School of Business Administration.

Charlie graduated from The Citadel in 1968 with a degree in business administration. He later received certifications at Louisiana State University Banking School of the South and at the University of North Carolina Executive Program. He served two years as an active duty soldier in the U.S. Army, remained in the U.S. Army Reserves for 23 years, and retired as a lieutenant colonel. Charlie spent 36 years in banking with South Carolina National Bank and Wachovia, before Corporate DevelopMint brought him on board as Chief Executive Officer.

He currently serves on The Citadel Foundation Board and chairs its investment committee. He is a trustee on the Board of South Carolina Independent Colleges, chairman of the Columbia Convention Center Tourism and Sports Authority, and past president of USC Associates. He serves on the Palmetto Richland Hospital Foundation and is a past chairman and current board member of the Cultural Council Board of Richland and Lexington counties. Charlie holds positions with the Columbia Rotary Club, the River Alliance Board, the Atrium Society, USC Business Partnership Foundation, S.C. Business Alliance Committee, and the S.C. ETV Endowment.

In 2004 Charlie was named S.C. Ambassador for Economic Development for 2004 by Gov. Mark Sanford. In 2003, he received the Midlands Ambassador of the Year Award from the Columbia Chamber of Commerce.
